YOURSAY ‘Obviously Najib doesn’t know how to count like Dr M.’

Did PM rely on Jho Low to do 1MDB maths?

Dr M does 1MDB maths, says RM27bil missing

yrsaypmrelyonjho SteveOh: Facts don’t lie. If proper books of accounts have been kept, it is easy to follow the audit trail and see where all that money has ended. This is the wonder of double-entry book-keeping. Money has to end up somewhere!

If the audit trail is a tangled web of transactions, you can be sure it is a job for the audit hound-dog (not watchdog) and forensic accountant who will be able to trace a transaction’s audit trail. In accounting, you can hide but you can’t run.

The 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is an investment company and it should not be hard to investigate from the company’s transactions and answer the crucial ‘who, what, where, and when’ questions.

If all transactions have been properly approved by the board, there ought to be proper minutes to explain who did what.

PM Najib Abdul Razak claims to be only the adviser. The records will tell what he ‘advised’ 1MDB.

It’s all in the accounting and Dr Mahathir Mohamad is on track when he tries to reconstruct the accounts. But get the experts to do the sniffing. They will find the money or its fate.

Swipenter: That is how Umno cronies always make millions and/or billions without breaking sweat. Buy low, sell high; inflate prices of privatised contract together with a profit guarantee clause and classify them under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).

To make them forever rich, they ink very profitable contracts with government-linked companies (GLCs) that stretched for more than 20 years.

Tell us something new, Mahathir. Najib learned from you. Only the amount involved now is much higher compared to that during your administration.

Apapunboleh: Swipenter, this is what I call legalised corruption which is an art perfected by Umno. It’s not illegal to inflate the price of a contract.

That’s why the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) always claims no corruption took place, whether this is ethically wrong or otherwise.

Anak JB: It is simple maths and it doesn’t take an old fox like Dr M to work this out. I hope the wrongdoers get arrested and be jailed immediately.

We should follow China and go for public execution as the crime of corruption is heinous and makes thousands suffer.
Jesse: Everyone in contact with 1MDB makes money but the PM does not seem to know where it has gone and into whose pocket.

When you tell a lie, you have to keep lying to cover up the original lie. All these thanks to Mahathir who is now crying foul, forgetting that he was the one who cultured such idiocy.

Boeyks: This is what DAP’s Tony Pua and PKR’s Rafizi Ramli have been saying all this time. But they needed proof to back up what they said.

Now Mahathir is saying the same thing. And RM27 billion is not a small sum, compared to the RM500 million commissions for the purchase of the Scorpene submarines.

Those who still support Najib in spite of all these can perhaps come out to clarify where the missing billions had gone to.

BTN: Umno will never have a chance to transform with troublemakers like Mahathir sabotaging every move the government does.

During his tenure, all sorts of things happened but no one dared to challenge him or his cronies. I am not saying Najib is clean but we really cannot stand the sight of these hypocrites.

Sam04: I am pretty sure that Najib is involved in all sorts of alleged financial hanky-panky but for Mahathir to be shouting so loudly is a case of ‘the pot calling the kettle black’.

So, Mahathir, where are all the money from those projects that you were allegedly responsible for – Perwaja Steel, Bumiputera Malaysia Finance (BMF), etc?

What we really need is for all these corrupt politicians to be put behind bars and the money in their Swiss bank accounts repatriated to the people of Malaysia. But fat chance.

JD Lovrenciear: Mahathir should, on behalf of the citizens and nation’s future, lodge a police report immediately or file a legal suit against Najib and his entourage, because all the bark from Dr M and even the opposition is rolling off like water on a duck’s back thus far. No?

Existential T**d: According to Washington-based Global Financial Integrity’s estimate, roughly US$370 billion (more than RM1,000 billion) of illicit money was siphoned out of Malaysia between 2002 and 2011.

Who knows what untold riches have disappeared before that. So what is RM27 billion compared to the loss of RM100 billion a year? We still have RM73 billion more to lose this year.

SemoLina: The chief executive officer (CEO) or CEOs prior to Arul Kanda Kandasamy seems to fall below the radar and so far there’s not a peep from them.

Couldn’t we ask them to throw some light on the stray billions to solve the arithmetic quiz posed by Dr M? Surely they are accountable to the people and not just to the PM alone.

And don’t give us this Official Secrets Act (OSA) bulls**t even though this was started by the old man himself. We are fed up of being drawn away from answers like stupid bulls chasing a matador’s cape.

Fairplayer: Obviously Najib doesn’t know how to count like Dr M! Najib depended on Jho Low to do his maths.

Anon1: Tun, it could be stuck in a beehive. Call the bomba to smoke it out, or give it a good beating with your old but firm stick.

Mob1900: Even with the money trail leading to the perpetrators was proven, who dares take action against them when the whole system has been perverted and corrupted by the very same regime?

The whole regime must fall, not replaced with another of their cohort.
