MO1 may remain, but the house of cards is tumbling

Malaysian Official 1 should resign but won’t

yrsaymo1yoursay-EnglishChipmunk: Well, commander (rtd) S Thayaparan, with all due respect, what you wrote is a very well-known fact both in Malaysia and abroad.

But with all this information in hand, can you tell us who is the right person to eliminate this Malaysian Official 1 (MO1)?

Until and unless the rakyat revolt against this regime of allegedly corrupted leaders, there will hardly be any change.

Unless the US Department of Justice (DOJ) proceeds with criminal charges and openly names Najib Abdul Razak as the mastermind, nothing will happen.

So while the pan is still hot, can I encourage fellow right-minded Malaysians to stand up in solidarity and save Malaysia from these tyrants.

Let’s call this Project RMO1 (Remove Malaysian Official 1). The future of Malaysia is in our hands.

Anonymous 2415891461978791: The alleged crime itself is such a betrayal of public trust, such a slap in the face of the Malaysian people, such a despicable and dishonourable act, that I cannot understand how anyone in his party can even tolerate being in the same room as him.

This is what I cannot understand. Is the entire political class of Malaysia without moral compass? Much less outrageous facts had the PM of Iceland resigning. Brazilians (even) turned their fury on corrupt officials.

But in Malaysia, with the biggest kleptocracy case in history, the reaction is still surprisingly muted. I am just completely baffled by this.

Lulu: No country, especially Malaysia, deserves to be governed by an alleged thief.

If his parliamentary colleagues and partners continue to support him, they should be treated with suspicion. There is no time to waste but to ensure he does not continue to destroy the country.

Quigonbond: I would respectfully disagree with Thayaparan. Probably attributable to President Barack Obama, the US is tightening its noose around the 1MDB “corrupt officials”.

Asset seizure is only the appetiser. But it would have already raised the temperature around MO1’s collar. If he does not step down, when stepson Riza Aziz and associate Jho Low start getting charged, it will start burning.

How sure is he that they won’t plea bargain and implicate him? This slow cooking gives a chance to see whether we Malaysians can still effect course correction.

If the US throws everything in right now, it risks exhausting its very limited capital on how it can positively influence change. We have to do our part now, and I believe change is about to come.

I’m not sure if anyone actually realises, but the DOJ civil action is an epic vindication for many patriotic Malaysians who have suspected or believed that grand corruption is afoot.

With clarity of fact, we can move on to the purpose phase and action phase.

Mojo Jojo: Thayaparan, why play the game that the powers-to-be want you to play when the rules are heavily stacked against you?

The Lim Guan Eng case and the 1Malaysia Official scandal are just different – plain and simple.

One is politically motivated as you claim, while allegations against the other are backed up by solid evidence.

Why should you demand the same outcome (resignation) when the circumstances are different? That’s not too tactical in my book.

RCZ: Spot on. He may remain but he is a world pariah. That’s enough for me for the moment.

The house of cards is slowly tumbling. It was built on lies and more lies, so it won’t stand for long.

Who else could ‘Malaysian Official 1’ be?

Headhunter: Was there ever any doubt whom the Americans refer to as ‘Malaysian Official 1′ is? Any village idiot would be able to tell.

Be certain that the Americans will not leave any stone unturned. The fact that all the law enforcement chiefs got together to make their statements and that the seizure of all the ill-gotten gains has begun shows how confident they are of getting a prosecution.

The big question is, will Riza and Jho Low be the fall guys for MO1?

The deputy prime minister (DPM) stated that he had met the donor. I suspect it was Jho Low disguised as an Arab that he met.

Awang Top: Headhunter, you said, “Any village idiot would be able to tell.” Unfortunately, they still voted for the alleged thieves.

Cogito Ergo Sum: Good piece. The US is being polite and diplomatic by not naming who Malaysian Official 1 is.

Only an imbecile will not know who the DOJ is referring to. Unfortunately, we have voted in a bunch of alleged kleptomaniacs into power.

Abasir: The fact that this grand scam (obviously planned and executed by the alleged MO1), has brought such unprecedented shame to the country is clearly not enough to move the Malay masses to rise.

That only raises troubling questions about the values they hold – if nothing else.

RR: The top man cannot go on denying misappropriation of such a colossal amount of public funds being investigated in many countries.

Should he resign owing to the pricking of his conscience to save further ridicule, all the ministers who blindly and strongly supported him must also resign to save their faces and for not giving the right advice to the top man.

Anonymous_4031c: It is strange they could find a needle in the haystack in Lim Guan Eng’s case, but not the needle in the needle stack for 1MDB.

The revelations from the joint task force investigations in the US culminating in the suit filed by DOJ is damaging to the credibility of the country.

Wira: Could MO1 be that guy they locked up in Sungai Buloh?
