‘Annuar, DAP re-elections were based on merit, not race’

Domination of one race exposes Kit Siang’s multiracial DAP ‘lie’, says Annuar

Quigonbond: I’m not sure what Umno information chief Annuar Musa’s complaint is, because Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo is way up there in the DAP’s central executive committee (CEC) re-election list together with Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran.

Even outspoken Klang MP Charles Santiago, or charismatic Selangor speaker Hannah Yeoh are not on the list. And Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, who is more senior and spoken of in more high-profile matters, is not ranked as highly as Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching.

In the end, it is those who are able to harness ground support and are popular within the party who get boosted. How did Annuar jump to the conclusion that it is a “racial” issue?

DAP is multiracial because it represents all people, regardless of race, in the issues that it fights for, whether it is on education, graft, governance or international relations. It says the same thing to anyone, unlike BN parties that are cross-firing, telling different ethnic groups different scare stories about the opposition.

Oxymoronictendencies: Annuar should compare apples and apples, not apples and oranges.

He seeks to compare BN (which is a coalition of parties) with DAP (which is a single stand-alone party). If he wants to use BN as the benchmark, then he needs to compare it with Pakatan Harapan.

Clearly, he does not dare to compare the composition of Umno and DAP executives. This is fake news!

P Dev Anand Pillai: This chap can’t talk from any high moral high ground because he comes from a party that only has Malays in it.

Further, his party is also in a coalition with other so-called multiracial parties, which only seem to be dominated by the Chinese or the Indians. Gerakan and PPP are classic examples.

There is simply no substance in this cheap talk. Take a hard look at the coalition you lead first.

Anonymous 2436471476414726: What is important is that the party is open to all races. Any qualified member can vie for any post in the CEC.

Whether they get elected or otherwise is up to the members to decide. Members are free to choose who they prefer.

Anonymous 2475091498015598: Chinese dominate in the DAP’s CEC because there are more Chinese members in the party.

If there were many Malays and Indians, I am sure there would be more non-Chinese committee members. Simple logic. No need to point this out as it’s a no-brainer. Make sensible statements.

RKR: So DAP is a Chinese-dominated party. So what?

Umno is a Malay party, MCA is a Chinese party, MIC is an Indian party, Gerakan is a Chinese-dominated party, PPP is an Indian-dominated party.

This is Malaysian politics. What’s the big fuss?

Odysseus: In the DAP’s CEC top 20, there are two Indians, one Malay and one Punjabi. Please tell us how many non-Malays there are in Umno, non-Chinese in MCA, and non-Tamils in MIC?

Please don’t throw stones when you are living in a glasshouse.

Penang’s heroic bilal struggles for PR status

Hopeful123: Bilal Sapno Tukijo, not to worry. What is Malaysian permanent residency, after all? You are already in the good books of Allah and you automatically qualify for the heavenly permanent residency.

May Allah grant you and your family happiness and good health to carry on the divine legacy of serving others, irrespective of race and religion. You are an eye-opener to many Malaysian hypocrites.

Tekad: The flood tragedy has shown that out there in Malaysia, the large majority of Malaysians are moderate, kind-hearted, compassionate, patriotic and non-racial, including the good bilal (I count bilal Sapno as Malaysian after being here for so many years).

Yet, we often hear of publicity being given to racial and religious extremists, and worse still, these people are being protected, defended and even rewarded because they serve a useful purpose to certain political leaders. The flooding of the minds of people with extremism is at times worse than the physical flooding.

Ian2003: Here we have a true hero who has had a hard time securing permanent residency, and yet we have a dubious person who got his permanent residency while being a wanted fugitive in his home country.

J D Lovrenciear: If humility can prevail in the hearts of hardened souls, the reflection will reveal that in Malaysia, paradoxes are prevalent. Controversial preachers get rewarded; humble souls like Sapno face hardships.

Why? Will our political masters stand up, owe up and correct what is so wrong?

Immigration DG to facilitate PR process for Penang bilal

Vent: Good on you, Immigration director-general Mustafar Ali, for “facilitating” the process for Sapno Tukijo’s permanent residency status. Now, how about spreading some of that same facilitation cheer to those poor stateless persons born and raised in Malaysia?

AL 7718: One good turn deserves another. This is proof that whatever good one does, it will always come back to you.
