YOURSAY | ‘We have to blame ourselves for electing people like them.’

‘F’ very appropriate for MPs who talk about number plates

BN MPs drive home case for new car plate to be given free

yrsayFthewordyoursay-EnglishP Dev Anand Pillai: It is really stupid to see those who call themselves lawmakers discussing number plates on precious parliamentary time as opposed to correcting the ridiculous amendments to the existing laws which the draftsman department sends out to them for debate.

We have to blame ourselves for electing people like them to represent us. As a lawmaker, one should set an example not ask for ‘discounts’ and ‘special treatment’.

Well, as long as we have ‘cari makan’ lawmakers, this is what we will get.

Well Thats Fantastic: Lawmakers are not above the law and aren’t they supplied with official vehicles anyway?

Not to mention they are well rewarded already with their nice salary package (tax free). Why is it we have to pay but they are officially excluded from paying?

Mosquitobrain: The Road Transport Department cannot practice double standards. You commit an offence, you will have to pay the fine.

Otherwise, there’s no need for laws.

Mafeeah: Utter rubbish! You are lawmakers of this country. So you should be setting an example to all others.

If you face traffic problems, wake up and leave for work earlier.

Cogito Ergo Sum: The country is going downhill and all that these BN representatives can think of are number plates and dodging summonses. The fact they want to avoid paying fines is reflective of the rot in the coalition.

Kamaapo: Yes, the government should give urgent attention to this extremely altruistic, wholly rakyat-benefitting call. Is this the very reason they are elected to the Dewan Rakyat?

They are still not satisfied with such a quantum leap in salaries from RM6,500 to RM16,000 overnight, given by the ‘Santa Claus’ PM.

In your constituencies, I am sure there are still people struggling to survive with just around RM700 per month.

Roar For Truth: The letter ‘F’ is very appropriate for Putrajaya and for some of our MPs.

Headhunter: These MPs should be pulling up their socks and do some work for a change instead of asking for more handouts.

If they want to be recognised on the road as MPs, I suggest special numbers are created for them, starting with CROOK1.

Vivian Lee gets six months’ jail for ‘bak kut teh’ Ramadan greeting

CQ Muar: What was meant to be a ‘laughing’ matter had turned out to be an expensive nightmare for Vivian Lee. Is her six months sentence to be viewed as overly extreme? Perhaps a deterrent two months would be justifiable and suffice as a lesson to Vivian.

Is it because her surname happened to be Lee instead of Sharifah or Rosmah? Does a silly prank like this deserve such a heavy penalty?

How about those hooligans wanting a cross to be taken down from a church? Which of the two is considered insensitive and insulting in nature?

Apart from this, there were many other similar instances and insults being staged against non-Muslims in which the culprits escape unpunished. If this isn’t a clear display of discrimination, what is?

Pokokgetah: ‘Bak kut teh’ simply means ‘meat bone tea’. Of course, it’s true that the meat traditionally used in bak kut teh is pork among the Chinese, but there’s no reason why this cannot be substituted with other meats.

We have the similar situation where lard is used in frying char koay teow according to the original Penang recipe, but other cooking oils are used in outlets serving Muslims.

I have come across no fewer than three different brands of halal instant bak kut teh for sale in the supermarket. (Just add the packet contents to water and the meat of your choice and boil.)

It’s okay to sell halal bak kut teh openly in the supermarket but not okay to mention it on the Internet?

Anonymous_1382244186: She is morally wrong not criminally wrong, but those who allegedly skim billions and still lie like no tomorrow are morally wrong and criminally wrong.

Anonymous 2362021442199789: Balqis Hijas’ yellow balloons and Vivian’s ‘bak kut teh’ post versus the 1MDB debacle, where the ultimate cost to Malaysia may be up to US$7 billion – we seem to have lost our sense of proportion somewhere.

Wpa: I suggest that scary thriller movies should next time add some yellow balloons, bowls of bak kut teh and some cartoons of handbags.
